Deliveroo partners with Trussell Trust to launch food bank donation service

Deliveroo is rolling out a new service, 'Collecteroo', where food donations will be collected from donors’ houses and taken directly to the nearest food bank collection point over the Christmas period. In partnership with Trussell Trust, the service aims to help increase donations for emergency food packages as inflation and the cost-of-living crisis continues to squeeze the public.

The scheme is backed by Nicola Adams, the professional boxer, who commented: "I know how challenging it is for some families to put food on the table, and although they shouldn’t be needed, I’m so thankful that food banks are there to provide compassionate and practical relief.

They do an incredible job at helping people facing hardship, and now, more than ever, it is vital that people who can donate, offer their support, where possible. That’s why I’m using my platform and my voice this Christmas to raise awareness around this important initiative from Deliveroo and the Trussell Trust."

The launch comes after research commissioned by Deliveroo found that 7 in 10 people in the UK have unopened food that they would be willing and happy to donate. Collecteroo aims to bridge the gap between potential donors and local food banks by providing the transport to bring in a higher volume of donations.
